We’ve all got old sports equipment stashed in cupboards and garages; items that have either been neglected through disuse or were replaced months and years before by newer versions.

Why then have we not put old racquets, clubs, bats, balls and footwear out with the trash? Is it because this equipment is still in good enough condition to be used? Would it not be a shame to just throw this gear away?

Let’s Play, in association with Mr Price & Mr Price Sport is once again launching “Gear Up Our Kids”, a nationwide project to collect sports equipment for children.

“Over the past 18 months, this campaign has had astounding results, collecting in the region of R2 million worth of sporting equipment which has helped change the lives of thousands of our children” said Let’s Play’s Vaughn Bishop.

“Gear Up Our Kids” will run during the month of February and more than 800 collection bins will be strategically placed at Mr Price and Mr Price Sport outlets for the collection of usable second-hand sports equipment, clothing and footwear.

Everything collected will be distributed to needy beneficiaries with the help of Greater Good South Africa.

To be a part of this exciting project, clean out those cupboards and donate your old sports equipment, clothing and footwear to needy schools, clubs, sports teams and organisations unable to fund the purchase of new equipment.

Look out for the “Gear Up Our Kids” bins at your nearest Mr Price store.
